Spring/Summer 2008 Astrological Polyamory Forecast

Pluto made it’s ingress into Capricorn January 25, 2008 at 8:16 PM GMT. This transition marks a significant change in the structures that govern our world. Pluto’s 248 year cycle and elliptical orbit are telling of the cycles they rule. It is global and has to do with major transitions in human existence. Looking at history Pluto was in early Capricorn when Martin Luther nailed the Ninety-five Theses to the Castle Church in Wittenberg. This document criticized the Roman Catholic Church and led the way for the protestant reformation and the Renaissance. Again in 1765 Pluto was in early Capricorn when the British enacted the Stamp Act that set in motion the U.S. Declaration of Independence, while Pluto was still in Capricorn. The United States Revolution led the way for the French and Russian revolutions and the end to traditional monarchies that had been the dominant form of government structure. The U. S. will have it’s Pluto return during this transit (when Pluto returns to the position it was at when the Nation was born) which continues until 2024. Pluto’s transit through Sagittarius brought consumerism that is over the top and religious fanaticism around the world.

Capricorn governs the pillars and structures of our culture and government. Pluto is as I call it “the Cosmic Roto Rooter”, cleaning out the crap so to speak of what is outmoded or decayed. What is out dated and outmoded gets swept away. At the ingress to Capricorn Pluto was conjunct the personal planet Venus, goddess of love and relationships and trine Saturn in Virgo the sign of environment and health. This energy bodes well for an opportunity on some level to transform the planet and the current direction of the human experience. Pluto is the master and bringer of change, death, transformation and rebirth. Change is inevitable and constant in our world. We are at choice as to how we experience this change.

In the first millennia of the Common Era, Christianity gained substantial position each time Pluto entered Capricorn. At first the changes were geared toward a personal relationship to spirit. Over time the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church became more rooted and controlling. In the mid and late part of the second millennia, the Catholic Church has lost ground with each Pluto transit. The last being when the U.S. broke from the GOD approved monarchies. Each of these moves away from the oppression of religion has brought a new level of individual freedom.

These changes and shifts are needed as it is the job of Pluto to clean out what is outmoded or no longer relevant. Major shifts in the way we do business and the imbalance of power wielded by handful of players of major corporate giants will begin to come undone as the control and constraints they place on average people become too much to bear. For the U.S., finance and banking will be hard hit as it becomes clear the systems we have come to depend on do not work for the individual. This break down will be due more to a realization by the masses to the levels of control that are being exerted by big business, banking and finance. Pluto, along with other transits present at this time, seeks to sweep away the illusion. The Matrix was a movie the showed very well the way in which, if you will, we have been plugged into a machine and controlled. Taught by and caught in the cogs of this system many simply take it all as it is handed to them; the right corporate job, the right kind of relationship, the white picket fence, the kids and all the material things. Much of this is so interwoven into our world that it seems necessary to our very survival. They forget who they are and do not even know how to think or feel what is really in their own heart. It is this kind of Matrix illusion that will be brought to light during this transit.

This configuration has deep meaning for the polyamorous community. Polyamory seeks nothing less then the restructuring and transformation of how we live and experience our committed love relationships. Loving More, considered by many to be on the forefront of the Polyamory Movement, is located in Boulder Colorado. Here at the ingress Pluto and Venus were both in the seventh house of personal relationships and opposing Mars in Gemini and the ascendant with a trine/sextile to Saturn the ruler of Capricorn and family structures in the fourth house of family; thus bringing a shift in the mass consciousness and paradigms that govern relationship and family structures. I believe that over the next couple of years polyamory, which has been quietly gaining momentum metaphorically throwing pebbles in a pond to see if the ripples are noticed, will become a tidal wave sweeping across the culture. Pluto in Capricorn changes culture, which is part of its nature. Pluto’s transit in 1762 brought a major shift in governmental structures from monarchies ruled by a king to representative elected governments. Then in 1515 the shift from a central and controlling religion to freedom of thought and beliefs, this was a major cultural shift. I believe one of the major shifts of the current transit will be in the way we love and relate. I have not seen other astrologers talk of this possibility and I believe that is because for many it is not even in the realm of their awareness.

Astrologers do agree that the Capricorn Pluto transit will bring a much needed change in our concerns about the environment and human impact on the planet, a transition or fall of corporate dominance over people’s lives and a transition in spiritual beliefs away from religiosity to a more grounded human awareness of people’s personal freedom and beliefs. Many people are filled with fear and trepidation of the changes but I believe it is an exciting time to be experienced and see what we can become. It is an opportunity to change the rules and transform the world. Most major changes or shifts in our world have come from an idea and a handful of people willing to challenge the establishment.
